Adriana Alcaraz



Adriana has a long list of solid relationships with members of the broadcast and print media, both Hispanic and general market.  Most recently, she was instrumental in the successful launch of the Azteca America station affiliate in San Diego.  As part of the McGraw Hill team she produced all public relations, marketing and community outreach materials, putting the rookie station on the map as a competitor.

Her work as a journalist in San Diego for the past 12 years has earned her some of the highest recognitions in the profession: Two Emmys, a Golden Mike, and San Diego Press Club awards.

Adriana has worked for several news outlets including the CBS affiliate in San Diego, the WB, Univision and the Associated Press.  Her positions have ranged from news writer to news anchor.

Adriana is deeply rooted in her community. Being bilingual and bicultural has allowed her to create, manage and participate in a variety of programs and non-profit organizations. From designing effective campaigns, to producing videos and stories in both English and Spanish. Her commitment to community has been recognized by several organizations. She currently sits on several boards and has worked with many of the top Hispanic organizations serving the market including the Friends of Scott foundation, the Chicano Federation, the UCSD Hispanic Scholarship Council, the MAAC project, and MANA de San Diego.
 
In 2001, Adriana was named “Latina of the Year” by the San Diego chapter of the National Latino Peace officers Association.  This award is given nationally to Latinas who go above and beyond to serve their communities.
